Frequently Asked Questions About Our New Space,
which we have lovingly nicknamed Samudra Sweat!
Where are you located?
We are at 50 Adams St. It’s a quick three minute walk from Elements; you can see us when you look up the street! Drive towards the end of Adams St and you’ll see us on the right.
How HOT?!
Most classes will be heated to 90 degrees with increased humidity. We can’t think of anything cozier on a cold winter day or more invigorating! You’ll still get the mindful, flowing practice that encourages you to get out of your head that you’ve come to expect and love from Samudra Studio; you’ll just see an extra challenge in our heated classes, designed to get you MOVING, sweating, and deliciously ready for savasana. Most people love the feeling of practicing in a hot room and the way it allows them to move their bodies.
I’ve never tried hot yoga? Can I handle it?
Yes! Classes will be accessible and as always modifiable for all levels. If you have never practiced yoga before, we suggest checking out one of our foundations or non-heated classes first before jumping into the heat so you are familiar with the movements. Drink plenty of water before class and throughout practice, and let the teacher know that you are new. Rest when you need! You’ll start to notice the difference in no time!
Ok but I’m not flexible. Can I still try it?
Yes! We all start somewhere. Try a class, then two, then three, and see how things begin to shift and change!
Why Hot Yoga?
Warning: Hot Yoga can be addicting, and not just because of the many physical and mental benefits of the practice.
It feels so good to SWEAT! We love the feeling of sweating it out on the mat and leaving it there!
We know there are SO many benefits of yoga, and most of us wind up loving it for far more beyond the physical results we see! (Sleep better, find more happiness, find a sense of calm, breathe better, reduce your stress, have better energy…we could go on…)
- You tend to burn more calories as your heart rate increases and metabolism improves. Class winds up being even more cardiovascular in a heated room.
- Circulation improves as you see more blood flow throughout your body and more oxygen to all your muscles.
- Stress release! We love how we feel at the end of a physically challenging work out!
- Better muscle tone and flexibility.
- Great for your immune system!
Will the yoga be awesome?
Yes it will!
Where can I park?
We’ll have a few designated spots in our parking lot; some additional first come first serve one hour parking, and during off business hours (outside of the 9-5 range) you can park at the bank parking lot just across the street from us. There is also free 4 hour parking on Central St. and some free street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods.
What kind of schedule will you have?
We will have a variety of class times to try to meet every schedule. Early morning, mid day, and of course, evening and weekend classes. We would LOVE to hear what your favorite time to practice is. Feel free to send us a note here.
Will you have other non-heated offerings?
Yes! We have two studios at our new location. Our smaller studio will offer more restorative and mindful class options in a comfortably warm room, as well as space for teacher trainings and kids and family offerings, in addition to private lessons.
Are you hiring?
We are always looking for great instructors as well as studio assistants and volunteers to add to our team. We ask that you have been practicing at our studio for about a month (try out our $50 new student special) to make sure it feels like a good fit for you as well as for us! We like to hire from within our community, so come on in and say hello!
